Roadmap for Change – About Us

Welcome to the Construction Industry Council (CIC) Roadmap for Change, the digital platform connecting you to the great work being undertaken by our industry to help you do it too.

Background

In November 2018, to coincide with the CIC’s 30th anniversary, the Diversity and Inclusion panel launched a survey asking some key questions including:

“What is the one biggest challenge the industry needs to address to make it a truly great industry for everyone to be part of in the next 30 years?”

“Is there any specific aspect about the industry which may make you consider leaving?”

“Do you think the industry is doing enough to attract, retain and develop a diverse workforce?”

We had over 1,100 responses and hugely insightful qualitative data. Key themes that emerged where you wanted change were:

  • Image
  • Progression
  • Leadership
  • Inclusive Design
  • Procurement
  • Technology

To inform the work we held a series of roundtable events across the country to share the key themes and find out about best practice in our nations and regions.

The Roadmap for Change

We have set a vision for each theme and resources and case studies have been included to help you start your journey.

Our aim is that we share best practice in our industry to showcase what is already being done and ‘join the dots’ so we can all learn from and support each other along the way.

We need your help to build this roadmap, some themes are more advanced than others in the resources we have. Please get involved by filling out the form to share your best practice and case studies to help us showcase the change that you want to see in our industry.

The platform

This roadmap has been built by the people behind Building People

The aim of Building People is to aggregate content from across the built environment to connect people to people, people to resource, and people to activities. This could include training and courses, podcasts and case studies.

In the spirit of collaboration and not wishing to reinvent the wheel, we are able to tap into the existing resources on the Building People portal that align with our themes and also contribute to it by sharing our content.

The people behind the roadmap

The ethos of the CIC is, ‘built environment professions together’. One of our key objectives is to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst its members.
